Robert Frew Medical Partners use and follow the local NHS prescribing policy.
We operate a repeat prescription system for patients on regular medication. You will be given a computer - generated slip attached to your prescription that should be kept safely.
Repeat prescriptions may be requested using any of the following options:
- Electronic prescriptions via NHS App - patients can now order their prescriptions electronically, using the NHS App, see the guidance:
- SystmOnline - using the SystmOnline website, if you are a new user you will need to fill in the form from the providers website, or visit the surgery to complete the form in-person, be aware you will need to bring Official photographic ID, for enrolment in the service, for you to order your repeat prescriptions via this method.
- Prescripton box in surgery building - placing the repeate prescription slip in the prescription box at eiter the ntrance of Robert Frew or Shotgate Surgery.
- Posting the prescription slip to us - sending the prescription slip in the post to the surgery, indicating by ticking which of the prescribed items you need.
- Requesting via local Wickford pharmacies - speak to your preffered local Pharmacy for more details in how they can place repeat prescription requests on your behalf.
We regret that we are unable to accept telephone requests for repeat prescriptions. This is for security and safety purposes.
Collections
Prescriptions will normally take up to 5 working days to process. Where there is a Bank Holiday, processing times may be longer. If you prefer to enclose a SAE we will post you prescription to you.
Some of the pharmacists in town offer a collection service so if you want to take advantage of this service please indicate on your request which chemist you would like your prescription to be sent.
Antibiotic Prescribing
As part of good clinical practice we only prescribe antibiotics when appropriate to do so. Many cases of, for example, sore throats, earache and coughs are caused by viruses and do not respond to antibiotics. These conditions will resolve with time and the use of symptomatic treatment. We are always happy to review you if the symptoms persist.
Medication Reviews
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.
Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
Questions about your prescription
If you have questions about your medicine or your prescription please contact the surgery.
Your local pharmacists can also answer any questions about your prescription. They can answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.
